Writer
Robert Emery studied orchestration and arrangement at the Royal College of Music with Ken Hesketh. He has a diverse range of music already orchestrated, from the Grieg Piano Sonata in E Minor and Prokofiev’s Visions Fugitives (arranged for full orchestra) through to 'songs from the shows' adapted for smaller ensembles.
Robert offers a full range of professional orchestration and arranging services to external clients, including instrumental and vocal arrangements, orchestrations for a variety of ensembles, transcriptions, adaptations including simplifications for school productions, and music copying.
He has recently completed the orchestration process of the musical Boorskale; co-written with Paul Tomkinson, has arranged and recorded a Christmas single in aid of the charity Shelter and has arranged the new hit musical Betwixt!
Most recently Robert orchestrated for the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic and British Philharmonic Orchestra’s in the national tour of FIVE TV’s production of My First Carol Concert.
Orchestration and Arrangement
Robert Emery’s classical compositions have so far all been inspired or set in the style of some of our greatest composers. These included:
- Paganini Variations (combining Jazz with Classical)
- Preludes and Fugues (in the style of Bach)
- Etudes (in the style of Debussy)
- Bagatelles (in the style of Carl Vine)
- May the Lord bless you and keep you
Robert has also set himself the long-term task of writing music to all 154 Shakespeare Sonnets first published in 1609.
